Jackie Charlene (Barnard) Price

Jackie Charlene (Barnard) Price
February 21, 1968 ~ February 23, 2020

On a snowy February night (the 21st) in 1968 Jackie Charlene (Barnard) Price was born to Eddie and Mary Lou (Ferrell) Barnard at Elk City Community Hospital. She was welcomed home by her big sister Monica. They were living on a farm near Aledo, Oklahoma at the time. She grew up attending the Leedey Church of Christ and was baptized at the Weatherford Church of Christ while attending there with her young children. The past several years she took her family to the Hammon Church of Christ to further their knowledge of God’s love.

Jackie attended school in Leedey where she graduated Valedictorian in 1986. She was a starting member of the state qualifying basketball team for two years. She was also selected as an alternate for All-State volleyball. She attended college at Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College. After graduating their two year program, she attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Southwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. She was very successful in junior rodeos, high school and college rodeos. She was a National High School Rodeo Breakaway Champion and Reserve All-Around Champion. This rodeo talent paid her way through college.

Jackie leaves behind seven children: Erin Brook, Elli Jo, Ethan Allen, Ean Charles, Tyler Mason, Jacob Carl, and Bailey Reed. Jackie and the four older kids made their home in Weatherford before moving to Leedey in 2001. In 2010 the three little boys came along. They were “adotted” by the entire family on August 14, 2013. They immediately fit right in. If you were not aware of the situation, you would never know they were not blood relation.

Jackie loved being a mother and the kids were her life. She was proud of their many accomplishments. She hauled the kids all over Oklahoma and Texas to junior rodeos. There were also numerous trips to Junior High National Finals, High School National Finals and College National Finals rodeos; in which all four older kids qualified to participate at various times. Her children also participated in many Leedey basketball, softball and baseball games. The only time she missed any activity was if she couldn’t be in two locations at one time.

Jackie worked as an adjuster for Oklahoma Farm Bureau in Weatherford and as a secretary at Consumer Textile Corporation in Clinton. After moving to Leedey she began teaching math at Cheyenne High School. In 2009 she purchased Wild West Insurance and began a new career. She sold the insurance agency in 2018 after growing it substantially.

New Years Eve 2003 in Amarillo, TX, arranged by friends, Jackie met the love of her life, Vic Perrin. Vic was in for the long haul and went many miles in the Price rig to rodeos, basketball and baseball games. Vic was her rock after her cancer diagnosis and traveled the many miles and tears by her side.

Jackie loved to quilt and had many works-in-progress. She had a very extensive library and read and listened to many books. She enjoyed spending time at the barn with the horses. She valued the time spent with her family and close friends. Sitting at home was never an option. If there was something going on, you could count on Jackie to be there. She was full of life and there was never a dull moment when she was around.

Jackie passed away in her home on February 23, 2020, at age 52, two years after her cancer was detected. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Lou, and uncle Lyle Barnard.

Cherishing the memories are life partner Vic Perrin, daughters Erin and husband Jay Johnson, Elli and husband Ty Batie, sons Ethan Price, Ean Price, Tyler Price, Jake Price and Bailey Price, grandsons Stetson Johnson and Turner Batie. Her father Eddie Barnard, sister Monica and husband Mark Collins, niece Baili and husband Clayton Nettleship, nephew Quincy Collins, and great-nephew Slade Nettleship, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jackie had two special friendships that endured forty plus years, Karen Johnson and Jami Radacy. Jackie leaves behind numerous other friends and will be missed by many.

Memorial donations in Jackie's honor may be made to either Leedey Education Foundation or Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association Mom’s Club Scholarship Fund in care of Shaw Funeral Home. (PO Box 276 Vici, OK 73859)
