Richard Leon Powell, 72 year old resident of Fritch, TX, passed from this life on February 3, 2016. Richard was born to Claude Cleveland Powell and Iva Florene (Stewart) Powell he raised in Pampa, TX. He attended the Pampa public schools and graduated with the class of 1962. In 1964 Richard enlisted in the Army and faithfully served his country. In 1981 Richard married the love of his life Jeanie Powell in Seminole, TX and they made their home in Fritch, TX.
Richard worked for Phillips Petroleum in Borger, TX as a mechanic for thirty years, after which he retired. He had many hobbies which included golfing and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandkids. Richard will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Claude Cleveland Powell and Iva Florene Powell; his son Mark Shawn Powell; and his brother Larry Powell.
He is survived by his wife of the home Jeanie Powell; sons Mike Shane Powell of Lewisville, TX, John H. Powell of Amarillo, TX, and Voyn R. Powell of Fritch, TX; daughter Lea Ann Lester of Haslet, TX; two brothers Kenny Powell of Seminole, TX and Ocie Powell of Dallas, TX; two sisters Dixie Houston of Seminole, TX and Iva Richardson of Erick, OK; 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
