Private family services are planned to celebrate and remember the life of Elizabeth Ann Potts. Elizabeth passed away at her home in Chelsea surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. As her granddaughter said; on 7-7 my grandma went to heaven. She was 84 years old.
Born in Bristow, OK on July 30, 1941, to Floyd R. and Bonnie A (Mitchell) Hurst. Elizabeth was raised and educated in her birth community and attended Bristow Public Schools. On May 14, 1958, Elizabeth married the love of her life Billy Potts. Their marriage was gifted with 6 children, Tommy, Danny, Dana, Debbie, Delores, and DeWayne. Elizabeth devoted her entire life to caring for others. She was the oldest in her family and was instrumental in raising her brothers and sisters. After marriage, that same caring nature was exemplified on her husband and her children.
When her husband was still living, he and Elizabeth enjoyed square dancing. She was an excellent cook and was known for her ability to make the best pies. After his passing Elizabeth shifted her focus to her grandchildren and being a “Grandma” brought her countless hours of enjoyment. She liked to grow ivy, play bingo, and occasionally slip off to the casino for a night out. Referred to by her family as somewhat of a fireball; you never had to wonder where you stood with Elizabeth because she would certainly let you know.
A lady that has left a legacy that will live on in the lives of her family and friends. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Tommy Dean Potts and wife Kim, Danny Potts and wife Cheryl, Dana Parker and husband Billy, grandchildren, Tommy Potts, Jerry Jenkins, Billie Castrop, William DeWayne Brainard, Angelic Brainard, Jessie Brainard, Billy Potts, Bo McElroy, David McElroy, Ashley Mathews, and Ryan McElroy, and numerous great grandchildren, brother, Larry Hurst, sister, Dorothy Pedreo.
