ENID, OK - Celebration of life service for Howard W. Poplin, 86, Enid, will be held at a later date in Calvary Chapel, with Pastor Matthew Thoms officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Navy under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors.
Howard was born March 11, 1928, in Broken Arrow, Okla., the son of James Madison and Alta Jane East Poplin, and passed away peacefully July 25, 2014, in Enid.
He was raised in Enid, serving his country in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1949, serving in Mariana and Marshall Islands. Howard returned to Enid, where he was self-employed as a painter.
He was a member of American Legion and Dudes and Dolls Square Dance Club of Enid and affiliated with the Baptist Church. Howard�s passion was working on street rods, Model A�s and other classic cars.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl (Joe) Wanzer of Enid; son, Stephen (Brenda) Poplin of Enid; son, Jerry Peck; grandchildren, Kindra (Adam) Sloan, Jennifer (Nick) Kasper, Lynsie (Justin) Hodges, Shane (Addie) Poplin, Destiny Poplin, Dakota Poplin, and Michael Peck; great-grandchildren, Hannah Poplin, Reece Hodges; sisters, Margaret Lawrenz of Enid and Janie Buffalo of Enid; numerous nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in passing by his parents; son, Gene; three brothers; and three sisters.
The family has selected Hospice Circle of Love as appropriate for memorial donations, with Stittsworth coordinating. Remembrances may be shared at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com. Register book will be available at Stittsworth.
