Services for Lovena Faye Poore (Purdy), 77 of Enid, OK, will be at 10:00am, Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Central Christian Church, in Enid. Rev Don Johnson will be officiating. An afternoon Burial Service will follow in Miami, Texas, with niece Toni K. Bailey officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Wednesday from 6-7 pm.
Vena was born on November 14, 1934 in Fredonia, Kansas to Paul and Thelma Purdy, and passed into heaven August 5, 2012.
Vena met the LOVE of her life, Robert (Bobby) E. Poore, while working as a telephone operator in Miami, Texas. They shared the joy of "Couples" dancing, among many other interests. Bob and Vena were married April 30, 1956. The couple lived in various places, before settling in Enid to raise their family. They raised two children, Mitchell Edward and Tracie Lynn. Vena worked in the office of Enid Family Medicine for several years. Vena was a wonderful hugger and a cherished friend to many. Nana adored her three grand boys.
Vena is survived by her son Mitch Poore and Bryan Johnson of Overland Park, KS, and daughter Tracie Ross, husband Jeff Ross, and beloved grandsons Calvin, Chet, and Jackson Ross, of Bixby, OK. Other surviving relatives include brother-in-law Troy Poore, sister-in-law Beverly Loper, and sister-in-law
Mary Poore, and several nieces and nephews.
Vena had an extraordinary personality and will be extremely missed by all who had the delightful pleasure of knowing her.
