GayLyn Poole was born February 18th, 1959 at Watonga, Oklahoma. Her proud parents were Bill and Audrey (Elmore) Poole. She grew up in Seiling and graduated with the class of 1977.
Free spirited as she was, she loved to travel and lived in many beautiful places...Miami, Houston, Atlanta, and Lake Eufaula were homes to her. Her final destination was Port Aransas, Texas. Helping her dear friend Nero manage his iconic Pink Palace Hotel a block from the ocean was a joy.
GayLyn wore many hats throughout her life. She spent her 20’s in Atlanta working in property management and becoming a Georgia realtor. She earned mixology and nail technician licenses.
GayLyn loved being a waitress and served in many local establishments. In her final years she became the artist she was meant to be. She loved creating beautiful things. Her imagination could see beauty brought to life. Whether a room, furniture, or works of art made from gifts from the sea she left her mark on the coastal bend.
Weekends at flea markets were special as she had a following of folks who supported her artistic endeavors. GayLyn had a magic green thumb and a project dear to her was saving countless plants and palm trees ravaged by Hurricane Harvey.
GayLyn fulfilled a lifelong dream of living coastal when she and her fur babies Pete and Maggie ventured to Pott A in 2017. She arrived knowing no one but in her last days she was surrounded by angels.
“Sometimes knowing your time here is about to expire can be a gift.”
GayLyn used this time to spread light, love and truth to anyone she could...sharing her love for Jesus and faith in her Father God.
Her heart of gold stopped its’ beating on August 9th, 2020. GayLyn entrusted her final wishes to her precious friends and cousins. Though GayLyn and Nero only knew each other for about three years, meeting in Port A, they had a friendship and love that has always been and will always be. He was the closest person to a brother she had ever known. Nero sent her ashes to the sea off the coastal bend setting her free of pain into Gods waiting arms. GayLyn is survived by special cousins and friends to whom her gratitude can’t be measured.
