Annabelle Christine Poole, beloved wife, mother, and Grandma Lady joined her Savior in heaven on October 28, 2024, where she completed the dream of hugging God, Jesus, and the man who invented air conditioning. Christine was born on May 20, 1949, the only daughter of Helen and Donald Martin.
Growing up in the high desert of California, she spent her childhood
chasing her brothers and catching snakes. She met Jim Poole, the love of her
life and best friend, at a neighborhood gas station in Yucca Valley where he
worked part-time while serving full time in the Marines.
They began
their 55-year marriage with a Las Vegas elopement on November 6, 1970,
filled their first years wild west adventures in Pioneer Town.
Soon after, they moved to Shawnee where they lived for over 50 years raising their daughters. Christine embraced life's adventures, whether fishing, camping, attending live musicals and movies (especially The Avengers), or cheering at football and wrestling matches - even riding 4-wheelers. No matter where her family was, she was always ready to join in. In addition to her family adventures,
Christine spent 30 years working for Southwestern Bell Telephone where she became the first licensed female air conditioning specialist in Oklahoma. She also dedicated time to serving God as a lay pastor in the Presbyterian church. More recently, she enjoyed writing and publishing her children's book series, "Danny's Adventures."
Christine is preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law and her beloved daughter, Helen (Poole) Kennedy.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Poole; her daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Bryan Byrd; her grandchildren, Robert Charvat, Jason Charvat, Nicole Byrd, Daniel Charvat, Scott Kennedy, Michael Byrd, Jacob Kennedy, Kayla and Anthony Alvarez; her great-grandchildren, Payton and Synthia Charvat, and Mathew "Trey" Kennedy, Aiden Wright; along with countless friends and friends of her children who lovingly adopted her as their "Momma Chris." Christine will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her adventurous spirit, loving heart, and unwavering faith.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, November 1, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Walker Funeral Chapel.
