Services for Mr. Roger Pittman, 82, of Connerville, Oklahoma will be held on Thursday, June 18th, 2015 at 6:00 p. m. in the Herb Clark Memorial Chapel with Brother Tony Poe officiating. At Mr. Pittman's request, his family selected cremation following the service. He passed away on June 14th, 2015 at his sons home in Ada, Oklahoma.
Roger was born on March 9th, 1933 in Pontotoc, Oklahoma to George Thomas Pittman and Minnie (Armstrong) Pittman. He was a graduate of Pontotoc High School and spent one year at Murray State College. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. He married Joan Goodwin on July 11th, 1961 in Ada and was a lifelong resident of Johnston and Pontotoc Counties. Roger worked as a carpenter all of his adult life and for 18 years for the Chickasaw Nation. He was one of the founder's of the Connerville Volunteer Fire Department and remained active for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Nora and two grandsons, Alton and Eric.
Mr. Pittman is survived by his son Bland, two daughters, Polly and Johnna, two
foster daughtes, Andrea Blevins and Carolyn Walker, two sisters, Nora Trent and
Rosie Young, twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, other
relatives and a host of friends.
