Memorial Services for Ms. Valery C. Pitman, 68, of Madill, Oklahoma (formerly of Tishomingo, Oklahoma) will be held on Friday, April 26th, 2013 at 6:30 p. m. at the Oakview Baptist Church in Oakland, Oklahoma with Brother Kevin Russell officiating, assisted by Brother Tanner Hinton. A private burial will take place at a later date. Ms. Pitman passed away on April 20th, at the Brookside Nursing Center in Madill.
Valery was born on January 6th, 1945 in Kirksville, Missouri to Otis Henry Dobbs and Nellie Bess (Shrake) Dobbs. She graduated from high school there in 1962. She graduated from North East Missouri Teacher's College, (now Truman University) with a major in Elementary Education. During her childhood, Valery attended the First Baptist Church and later Hamilton Street Baptist Church. She moved to Tishomingo in 1992 from South Carolina. She worked at several occupations during her life in include, being a substitute teacher, for the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Tishomingo as an office assistant and as a sales associate for Wal-Mart.
Valery was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Pearl Robert Hobbs.
She is survived by two sons, Scott Pitman and Shaun Pitman, both of Tishomingo; their father, Robert W. "Bob" Pitman of Florence, Montana; five step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends, to include, a special friend, Debbie Conley.
