Betty "Joyce" (Sears) Pinney

February 26, 1932 ~ July 4, 2018

Betty Joyce (Sears) Pinney was born in Yale, Oklahoma, on February 26, 1932, to Jay Washington and Beulah Vivian (Baker) Sears.

She was the youngest of five children and attended Barnsdall Public Schools until she was swept off her feet and fell head over heels in love with a handsome young man named Billy Nolan Pinney. Much to her father's dismay, she married Bill on September 18, 1948 and they made their home in Barnsdall. It wasn't too long before Jay came around and a few short years later, on March 21, 1951, Bill and Joyce were blessed with their first son, Gary Nolan. They were again blessed with a son on May 15, 1954, when Stanley Bruce was born.

Joyce worked at several jobs through the years including as a Switchboard Operator, a cook at the Dairy-Go-Round in Barnsdall, and at the Sears catalog store in Bartlesville. Joyce was always active in church and taught Sunday School at First Baptist in Barnsdall for many years. Joyce loved not only her family, but she loved people and she loved cooking for all of them. Later, after they moved to Dewey, she worked at the Potato Patch in Bartlesville and after that, she cooked Wednesday Evening Meals for Dewey First Baptist. She became locally famous for her cooking and baking skills! Each family member has AT LEAST one favorite dish that only Grandma Joyce was allowed to bring to family dinners.

After Bill retired they spent a LOT of time camping and crappie fishing. Joyce was somewhat competitive and loved it when she caught more fish than Bill. In fact, they loved camping and fishing so much, they decided to move permanently to the lake and made their home in Grove. Joyce was also an avid OSU and Thunder fan and in recent years, she & Bill spent much of their time watching sports and cheering on those teams.

Joyce found herself sitting at the feet of Jesus shortly after 12:30 pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. She was pre-deceased by both her parents, Jay and Beulah, and all four of her siblings: Laura Mae (Sears) Delancey, J.D. Raymond, and Bill and her oldest son Gary.

She is survived by her husband Bill and their son Stan, 6 grandchildren, (Gary: Corey & Casey) and (Stan: Jason, Jeremy, Katie & Lesley), 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill will now make his home in Edmond with Stan and Debra.
