Private family services for Robert Pinegar will be at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Robert Henry Pinegar, son of the late Avon and Vivian (Sutton) Pinegar, was born July 3, 1920, at Alva, and passed away February 15, 2023, at Alva, at the age of 102 years, 7 months, and 12 days.
Bob was raised in Alva graduating from Alva High School before attending Northwestern State College. He enlisted in the United States Marines and proudly served during World War II. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked that day on December 7, 1941. While in the Marines he received several medals for expert rifle, aerial machine gun, sharpshooter with pistol, machine gun fire of .30 caliber, automatic rifle, and a ring that was presented to him as being the man becoming most adapt to army life.
On January 17, 1958, he was united in marriage to Margaret Anita Schick at Alva. Following their marriage they lived in Alva where he farmed all of his life. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the Elks. He took great pride in his farming, working along side his wife and son, Greg.
Besides his parents, Avon and Vivian, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; and his brother, Avon Lee Pinegar.
Bob is survived by his son, Dr. Greg Pinegar of Alva; his sister, Lucerne Sumpter of Laverne; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Alva Arena Authority.
