A time to remember and celebrate the life of Karen Lynn Pike will be from 1-3 on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the family home. Karen passed away at her home on Sunday, August 25, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 69. Born in Scott City KS on August 14, 1955, to Daniel Cline. and Florence “Marie” (Cole) Roberts. Karen was raised and educated in Liberal, KS and graduated from Liberal High School with the class of 1973. On May 29, 1978, in Liberal, KS, Karen married the love of her life and best friend, Greg Pike. They became a blended family with 3 children, Jennifer, Kirsten and C.D. Karen helped provide for her family working as a baker for Safeway and Homeland Food Stores.
A lady that was a true outdoorswoman, Karen raised a huge garden, and then spent the time canning the many fruits and vegetables she raised. According to her daughter they never ate anything out of a box. In fact, when Kirsten expressed the desire to eat at Pizza Hut her mom made her a fresh from scratch pizza. At one point in Karen’s life, to be self-sufficient, she and husband Greg raised their own cattle and pigs for meat. Karen loved to fish and hunt. The passion for hunting was something she shared with her husband. Together they hunted across the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. In 1990 Karen and Greg opened and operated a successful business in Claremore called the “The Outdoorsman” and operated an outdoor 3-D Bow Range. They retired in 2010 and soon after began building their dream home, a log cabin, with the help of their son C.D., grandsons Levi and Dylan as well as many friends.
Karen loved her family and the times they could all be together; memories were made that would last the rest of their lives. When grandchildren came along it might be said that “Meme” was the word that could put the brightest smile on Karen’s face. She excelled in her role as a grandmother. She developed special and unique bonds with each of her grandchildren. As Karen’s health began to decline, her oldest grandson Levi stepped up to stay on the family property and care for her as was his promise to his Papa. Dylan and Brecklynn eventually moved into the family home to care for her during her last couple of months. It truly demonstrated the love that was felt for Karen. A legacy has been left that will live on in the lives of her family and friends.
Karen is survived by her children Kirsten Muncy and husband Chad of Tulsa, C.D. Pike of Claremore, Jennifer Townsend and husband T.D. of Castle Rock, CO, grandchildren, Brittney Casper and husband Scott, Levi Dean, Tanner Townsend and wife Keyandra, Dylan Dean and wife Brecklynn, Brooklynn Townsend, Kelsey Pike, Cody Pike, Kenzie Kidd and husband Kyle, Hailey Pike, Noah Pike, Jaxson Pike, Zovia Barksdale-Muncy, Seth Barksdale and wife Micah, Amanda Barksdale and Heather Barksdale and 14 great grandchildren with one more on the way.
