Samuel Joseph Pierce, known to his friends and family as Sam, passed away on November 19, 2025, at the age of 85 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sam was born on September 16, 1940, in Wister, Oklahoma. He was the son of Arnold and Doris (Morgan) Pierce. Sam grew up and attended school in Miami, Oklahoma, and later moved to Sand Springs, graduating from Charles Page High School. After graduation, Sam attended Northeastern Oklahoma A & M, where he played football and was a member of the National Championship Team in 1958, playing in the Junior Rose Bowl. Sam gained employment at the Warren Building and was soon introduced to Janet Rae Anderson. The two were married on June 18, 1960. Sam later accepted a position with General Motors Pontiac Division in Tulsa, where he remained until 1977. Sam and Janet then moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma, where they raised their two children, Randy and Angela. Sam worked at the Ford dealership and Spess Pontiac for many years. He then started in the oil field with several local producers as a driller. In the late 80s, Sam began working at Piping Engineering in Sand Springs as an inspector for many years. He also worked for Worldwide Industrial and JV Industries, traveling the world on different projects. In 2015, Sam and Janet returned to Oklahoma, where he continued to reside.

Sam was an avid OU fan and enjoyed going to Hickory House to catch up with the latest news. Traveling with Janet to the casinos, Las Vegas, Redondo Beach, and Palm Springs was a frequent trip. Sam always called people to make sure they were ok and prayed for numerous people daily.

Survivors are his son Randy Pierce and wife Elizabeth of Cleveland, Oklahoma, son-in-law George Harmon of Cleveland, Oklahoma, grandchildren Valerie Maker, Eugenia Maker, Brad Harmon, Lindsey Harmon, Christopher Pierce, Samuel Pierce, and Jeremey Russell; great grandchildren Evie Harmon, Maddox West, Olivia West, and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, and daughter, Angela Harmon.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 24, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Louis Obirieze and Fr. Bruce Brosnahan. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Friends and family may visit an online guest book and memorial page for Sam at www.chapman-black.com.
