David Isaac Taylor Pierce, Sr. died December 4, 2007 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 5 days. He was born August 31, 1940 in New Town Site, West Virginia to Clayton and Opal (Whitlatch) Pierce. On December 1, 1969 he married Carolyn Babski in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
David was born and raised in West Virginia and after graduation he joined the Army. He then moved to Reading, Pennsylvania where he started his career in trucking, which eventually moved him to Oklahoma where he retired in 1995. David loved to hunt, fish and just being outdoors. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Teamsters Union. Although he grew up in West Virginia and Pennsylvania he considered Oklahoma his home.
Survivors include, his wife, Carolyn of the home; one daughter, Kristina Birckbichler and her husband Calvin of Crescent; two sons, Scott Anthony Burk and wife Stephanie of Edmond and David Pierce, Jr. and wife Michelle also of Edmond; six grandchildren, Timothy Joshua Burk and wife Michele, Kyle Jordan Isaac Burk, Garrett Austin Pierce, Carter Matthew Pierce, Sutton David Pierce and Amanda Lynn Birckbichler; two great grandchildren, Alexis Marie Burk and Tyler Lee Burk; two sisters, Bertie McDonald of Denver, CO and Brenda Hartman of Columbus, MO; one brother, Robert Pierce of Reading, PA and by his beloved dog, Sadie. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Pierce and Clayton Pierce, Jr.
At the request of the family there will not be a memorial or graveside service, however a viewing will be Friday, December 7, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home that is open to the public. Condolences may be sent to the family at abernathyaaron.com
