The services celebrating and honoring the life of Virgil “Skip” Dale Phillips, 68, of Tonkawa, will be held privately.
Skip was born June 9, 1952 to Virgil Lee Phillips and Lily Marie (Roach) Phillips in Ponca City Oklahoma and passed from this life January 2, 2021 in Blackwell Oklahoma.
He was raised and educated in Ponca City and Blackwell. After high school he joined the United States Army and achieved an Honorable discharge. He later owned and operated Skip’s Cab Service in Ponca City for many years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and even taught his nephew at the age of four years how to play. He loved his nephew and niece dearly. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, always had a joke, and got great enjoyment out of watching others laugh.
He is survived by one sister Darlene Pouland; one niece Lacy and Bobby Gower, Ponca City; one nephew Bubba Keltch, of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Angela and staff of Willow Haven Nursing Center and The Blackwell Hospital.
