Robert (Bob) Phillips 74 of Enid passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2018. He will be cremated under the direction of Stittsworth Funeral Services. A private memorial dinner will be held at a later date.
Bob was born August 27, 1943 to Gladys Boynes in Manhattan, NYC, NY. He was adopted by Dorothy & Wesley Phillips and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. After High School he moved to Asbury Park, NJ where he later enlisted in the USMC. He served In Okinawa and for18 months in Viet Nam.He was discharged from El Toro AFB in March of 1970. After his discharge, he decided to stay in California. Bob was very proud to have been a Marine and his motto was, 'not so lean, not so mean, still a Marine'.
On 22 Oct 1983 he
married Loretta (Lori) Walsh Davis in Los Angeles, CA. He worked as an EMT
in Los Angeles until moving to Enid in June of 1992. He worked at St. Mary's
Hospital from 1992 until he retired from the Sleep Lab in 2010.
Bob was
an avid Steelers fan to the end. He was a big NCIS fan, loved music and
enjoyed playing the piano. Bob was a member and an officer in the Enid
Intertribal Club, a member of The Keeper of The Plains Pow Wow Committee and
the Scholarship Committee. He loved going to Pow Wows, gourd dancing, fry
bread, horseback riding & fishing. He was a beloved husband & father.
He is survived by his wife Lori of the home, daughter Jacque Abatan of Enid, sisters, Marcella Fields of Pittsburgh, PA, Rosalie Brooks of Baltimore, MD and Mary Ann Brown of Los Angeles, one grandson, two great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his birth mother, his adoptive parents and three brothers; Augustus Phillips, Manuel Boynes and George Boynes.
The family would like to thank the doctors & staff at St. Mary's Medical Center, Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Integris Baptist Medical Center, OKC, the staff at Encompass Home Health and Hospice Circle of Love for all they did for Bob.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Woodring Wall of Honor & Veterans Park, Enid, OK or to the American Cancer Society.
