Michael Lee Phillips (Mikey) passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Washington Regional Hospice in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the result of a motorcycle accident. He was 41 years old.
Michael was born in Killeen, Texas on April 2, 1975 to Fumiko (Gibo) Phillips and Norman Phillips. He was raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma attending school at Liberty Elementary, West Middle School and Ponca City High School, graduating with the class of 1993. He was involved in band and played the tuba. As a child he was a paperboy for Ponca City News and later worked in circulation department.
In 1993 Michael was gifted with a son, Kelly Michael Phillips. During these earlier years, he worked at Mid-America Door and Thorn Apple Valley. Michael was mechanically inclined and loved to work on his trucks.
Michael moved to Greenville, Texas in 1998 and soon after married Jessica Grigsba. He was employed with OMI Crane Company for over 17 years. He began his love of biking during his time in Greenville and met a group of bikers who became lifelong friends. He frequently participated in bike rides and gatherings.
In 2010, Michael and Tiffany Clark brought to this world a daughter, Lily Mae Phillips. He enjoyed getting to take her riding on his new Harley Davidson.
Michael had recently secured his dream job at TeRex in Tulsa and was looking forward to this new adventure. Throughout his life, Michael made friends wherever he went. His loss will be felt by many.
Michael is survived by his children, Kelly Phillips of Edmond and Lily Clower of Paris, Texas, his mother, Fumiko Phillips, brother and sister-in-law Alan and Jamie Phillips, niece, Taylor Phillips and nephew, Teagan Phillips, all of Ponca City, half-sister, Melissa Dozier of California and other family including aunts, Debbie, Tessa and Pat, uncle Dave and cousins, Teri, Todd, Eric, Susan, Justin, and Amy. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and uncles, Mark Boyer, Dennis Boyer and Takemore Gibo.
A memorial ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Trout Funeral Home located at 505 W. Grand Ave. in Ponca City, OK. A celebration of Michael's life will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Greenville, Texas at Corner Street Pub, his favorite restaurant, following a memorial bike ride on Sunday, October 23, 2016.
