Memorial services for Gerald Phillips, 65, of Ninnekah, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in the Grand Assembly of God Church, at 102 W. Almar In Chickasha.

Gerald Phillips was born July 6, 1941, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Geneva [Wilson] and Joe Phillips. He passed form this life June 29, 2007.

On March 11, 1963, he and Carolyn Trotter were married in Wichita Falls, Texas. Gerald was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Geneva Phillips; two brothers: Bob Phillips and Gwen Beach.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn, of the home; Children: Dennis Phillips, of Tulsa, Lonnie Phillips, of Guthrie, DeWayne Phillips, of Chickasha, Rhonda Trout, of Midland, Texas, and Jimmie Phillips, of Chickasha; three brothers: Bill Phillips, of Duncan, Gary Don Beach, of Chickasha, and Cecil Beach, of Alaska; two sisters: Nona Kennell and LouAnn Beach, both of Chickasha.

Gerald is also survived by twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Everyone knew him as "Pops" at Mama Carols Restaurant, which he and Carol has owned and operated for over 15 years. "Pops" never went at anything half-heartedly; paper boy, pilot, truck driver, diesel mechanic, Grand Master of the Elks Lodge, fishing, woodworking, and collecting cookie jars.

During his illustrious lifetime, Gerald could point to many achievements. But there are six people who will be quick to say that his crowning accomplishment took place on March 11, 1963.

That is the day that he said "I do" to a young woman named Carolyn… and her five small children, the oldest being only seven years old.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
