Bernie Lee Phifer, of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2025 surrounded by love, to the sound of the sweet country music he loved listening to. A celebration of his life will be held on April 12th, 2025, at 2 pm in his hometown of Alluwe, Oklahoma, at the community building.
Bernie was born March 10th, 1949, in Vinita, Oklahoma to Dave Vincent Phifer and Neva Jean Melton-Phifer. He was the second born of seven siblings. He spent his life doing what he enjoyed and loving his family with all his heart. He graduated from Alluwe High School in 1968.
He served many years in the US Army as an infantry private.
In his younger years, he found himself running a drag line at Cabonex Coal Mine and Comanco Coal Mine, and later a foreman at Good ol Boys drilling company and Wagon Wheel drilling company. He was often found raising hell with his rowdy friends. He loved fishing, hunting, working on his truck, and sharing his love of gold prospecting with his granddaughter Athena.
He is preceded in death by his father Dave Vincent Phifer, his mother Neva Jean Melton-Phifer, his siblings; Betty Lou Culp, Benjamin Lavern Phifer, Beverly Ladonna Bains, Bryan Loyd Phifer, and Blynda Lynn Phifer and his grandson Bryan Anthony-Lee Phifer.
He is survived by his daughter Donnell Lynn Phifer of Nowata, Oklahoma, his sister Brenda Louis Marchant of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, his grandchildren Athena Renee Hopkins (Phifer) of Claremore, Oklahoma and Rhiannon Michelle Phifer of Nowata, Oklahoma and his dearly loved only great-granddaughter Roslynn Nichole Hopkins of Claremore, Oklahoma as well as many close friends and family members.
We invited everyone to join us in celebrating Bernie’s life on April 12th, 2025 at 2pm at the community building in Alluwe, Oklahoma.
