Maria Phelps, 45 year old Woodward resident passed away Monday, November 6, 2023. Memorial services will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel.
Maria LeeAnn (Winters) Phelps was born February 22, 1978 to Konnie Winters and Audrey (Phares) Mabrey in Enid, Oklahoma. Maria grew up in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. She was united into marriage to Greg Scherff and to that union Maria was blessed with one son her pride and joy, Austin.
Maria worked as the property manager for Briarwood Apartments. She enjoyed playing with her fur siblings, Snowy and Junior. Spending time with her family brought her the most joy. Maria was greatly loved by all who knew her. She was known for her contagious smile and positive attitude.
Maria is survived by her parents, Audrey and James Mabrey; one son, Austin Scherff; one brother Nathan Winters; two sisters, Vanessa Dawes and husband Jamin, Aunna Muirhead and husband Michael; three bonus sisters, Amanda Rivera, Rachel Ortega and husband Tavo, Michelle Case and husband Jonathan; numerous nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Greg Scherff, father Konnie Winters, her grandmother Ruth Maze, grandparents Harold and Maxine Winters.
