Cheryl Jean Pharr, daughter of Bettie (Gibbs) and Gene Corsini, was born September 8, 1954.
She passed away at home in Alva, Oklahoma, on October 26, 2020, at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 19 days old.
Cheryl was born in Santa Monica, California. She graduated from Chatsworth High School, Class of 1972. She earned her associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Shasta College in Redding, California, in 2002. She taught preschool at Head Start before becoming a Case Aide for Child and Family Services in Shasta County, California. She retired in 2015 and moved to Alva, Oklahoma, to be closer to her family and see her grandkids grow up. She worked part-time as a case aide for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in Woods County. Cheryl loved her job helping children. She had the biggest heart of anyone you could meet.
Cheryl married Charlie (Chuck) D. Pharr in November of 1984. In this union Cheryl became a mother to Chuck's three children, Jacob, Mindy, and Kelly. Cheryl and Chuck also welcomed two more children, Katrina (Katie) and Brian. In 1990, Cheryl and Chuck moved their family to Redding, California.
Cheryl never met a stranger. She loved to host barbecues and spend time with friends and family. Cheryl was the Los Angeles Dodgers' biggest fan and she never missed a game. Her grandchildren were her whole world.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Bettie Corsini.
Cheryl is survived by her five children, Jacob and Shannon Pharr (of Johnstown, Colorado), Mindy Pharr (of Provo, Utah), Kelly Tuning (of Vernal, Utah), Katie and Scott Church (of Alva) and Brian Pharr (of Alva); 11 grandchildren, Quinton Pharr, Jacob Pharr Jr., Hannah (Kasey) Fuller, Joshua Pharr, Hailey Pharr, Jaron Pharr, Julie Church, Scott Church Jr., Jacqueline Church, Kole Tuning and Colt Church; two great-grandsons, Blake Escamilla and Adam Pharr.; three siblings, brother Rick and Laura Brown (of Sierra Vista, Arizona), sister Linda and John Gay (of Easley, South Carolina), sister Laurie Emmerling (of Arroyo Grande, California); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family in Oklahoma will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 3 p.m. at the Runnymede. The family invites everyone that loved her to come celebrate her life. A memorial service will be held in California in the summer of 2021, details pending.
