Mittie Carol Petty, age 65 of Verden, Oklahoma, was born on April 4, 1944, in Richmond, California. She died on May 2, 2009, in Verden.
She lived many places during her life, but settled in Verden in 1992. During her life, she worked many years as a waitress, drove a truck, and cared for children as a foster parent. She was greatly loved by her family and everyone she came into contact with.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Vacie Sarah Bishop; three brothers, Alvie Bishop, Odel Bishop, and Gene Bishop; two sisters, Violet Ruth Anthony and Bernice Plant; her husband, James Petty; daughter, Teresa Gale Smith.
Survivors include: Daughter: Tina Mae [Stewart] Malone of Verden, Son: Dewayne Smith of Bakersfield, California, Son: Eugene Smith of Iowa, Daughter: Barbra Gibson of Verden, Daughter: Trisha Brown of Chickasha, Daughter: Beth Stanley of Chickasha, Daughter: Danielle Moore of Chickasha, Brother: Wayne Bishop of Verden, Brother: Garvin Bishop of Stilwell; Companion: Murrel Morris of Cement, Six Grandchildren: Sarah, Lisa, Christy, Travis, Sarah Jean and Macie, Two Great Grandchildren.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
