David Ray Peterson, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 70. David was born August 18, 1946 to Ray and Verna Peterson of Ponca City, OK. Dave attended schools in Ponca City, graduating in 1964.
On March 13, 1970, Dave married Rita Rae Riley in Ponca City. Dave and Rita raised three children; James, Brian and Sherry. Dave worked various jobs before starting a 43 year career with Sober Brothers, where he was a heavy equipment operator, mechanic and foreman.
Over the years, David enjoyed fishing and working on just about anything. When the grandchildren came, he built a large playground for them and enjoyed camping at Birch Lake with the family.
Dave is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rita Rae; his children, James and wife Trish of Ponca City, Brian Peterson of Shawboro, NC, and Sherry and husband Shane Feathers; grandchildren, Jamie and husband Bradley Williams, Dustin Peterson and Kailey Feathers. 3 great-grandchildren; Bentley, Bowyn, and Wyatt; brother, Michael Peterson of Ponca City, OK; sister, Susan Jones of Ponca City, OK; brother, Jim Peterson of Independence, MO.
It was David's request that there be no services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to the charity of your choice. Care is under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
