Darlene Fay (Zweygardt) Peter

Darlene Fay (Zweygardt) Peter
August 6, 1938 ~ October 23, 2013

Darlene Fay Peter 75, of Midwest City went to be with her lord and savior on October 23, 2013 at Midwest City regional hospital. She was born on August 6, 1938 in St. Francis, Kansas to Tobe and Irene Zweygardt.

Darlene"s youth was filled with barrel racing, riding in the saddle club, baton twirling and playing the flute in the band at St. Francis high school.

She was married to Jim Peter on Dec 28, 1958 and remained his loving wife until his passing in 2011, they are together again now.

In 1976 the lord lead her and her husband to surrender to the ministry. Rev. And Mrs. Peter served God by pastoring at Corum Baptist church in Corum, OK from 1977-1980, Silverlake Baptist church in Bartlesville, OK from 1980 -1985, Freedom Hill Baptist church in Mannford, OK from 1985 -1999.

Darlene served the lord for most of her adult life as a "reverend's assistant". She repeatedly worked diligently and received special recognition by camp leadership after spending over two decades as a Falls Creek youth camp cook. Upon retiring in 1999 they moved to Midwest City, OK and became active and beloved members of the First Southern Baptist church in Del City family. Spreading God"s word worldwide through missionary trips became her passion later in life with trips to Thialand (twice), Africa and Honduras.

The amount of pies that she baked for others (to raise money for mission trips) may only be known by her and her maker (whom she probably made a banana split pie for immediately). Her pie making skills were only surmounted by her expertise as a quilter.

Preceded in death by: her husband Rev. Jimmie Peter, mother Irene Zweygardt, brother Marvin Zweygardt and granddaughter Rachael Watts.

Survived by: sons Timothy Peter and wife Janina of Moore, OK, Daniel Peter and wife Angela of Aztec NM, Michael Peter and wife Sheri of Tulsa OK. And Larry Bartels of Norman OK. Her father Tobe Zweygardt of St. Francis KS, twin sister Delphine Zweygardt of Albuquerque NM, brother Melvin and wife Janet Zweygardt of Prarie City OR. Five grandaughters, one grandson and ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 1:30 pm in the First Southern Baptist church of Del City.

A fund will be set up at First Southern Baptist church in Del City to support the missionary program with bible distribution in Darlene Peter's name.
