Jimmie Ray Perkins passed from this life on Friday, January 5th, 2024 at Featherstone Assisted Living Center at the age of 84. Jimmie was born April 14, 1939 in Riceville, Kentucky to Willie Perkins and Elizabeth (Salyers) Perkins.
Jimmie married his love of his life, Patricia, on May 29th, 1965. She preceded him in death on December 31st, 2021. He and Pat moved to Tennessee with their son, Jimmy and family in 2010 and then to Durant in 2019. Jimmie lived with his son and daughter-in-law Tamara for the last several months. Jimmie is a US Army veteran serving 4 years before his Honorable Discharge. He worked for Atlas/Cummins for 25 years as a laborer before retiring in 1994. He then earned his CDL and drove a semi for Frank Kirby Trucking for 8 years, retiring once again. Jimmie enjoyed farming and going for walks. He was an avid fan of Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. His absolute greatest joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was hoping he could make it to April so he could meet his latest great-grandchild.
Jimmie was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ernest, Willie Jr., Dick, Haskel, Clarence, Larry, Dennis, and Mack; and sisters Norma, Ruby, and Geraldine.
He is leaves behind his son, Jimmy (Tamara) Perkins of Durant; daughter, Anita (Jay) Johnson of Delaware, Ohio; son, Jason (John) Perkins of Napoleon, Ohio; 6 grandchildren Caleb, Cali, Jared, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Ian; 3 great-grandchildren Madden, Sutton, and Tucker, and a future great-granddaughter in April 2024; a brother, Powell Perkins; and sisters Mary Rhoads and Patsy Click.
Jimmie’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial graveside service will be held at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Staffordsville, Kentucky at a later date.
