Dorothy Ruth Perkins

October 18, 1922 ~ May 11, 2016

Dorothy Ruth Perkins, 93, of Copan, died at 5:33 A.M. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her home in rural Copan, Oklahoma.

Memorial services will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Copan United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Peck officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Dorothy Ruth Perkins was born in Cassville, Missouri on October 18, 1922 the daughter of Mitchell and Ethel (Cooper) Perkins. She came to Oklahoma with her family as a child and attended Copan schools. She graduated from Copan High School in May of 1941 and began her employment with Phillips Petroleum Company in July 1943. She first worked at the research center and then became a secretary in the sales department until her retirement in August of 1985. She also managed the family farm at Copan for many years. She was a longtime member of the Copan United Methodist Church where she and her sister were co-leaders of the Methodist Youth Fellowship for a number of years. She also loved participating in ballroom dancing.

Survivors include a sister, Hazel Perkins Reed and her husband Virgil Warren Reed of New Hope, Texas, two nieces, LeeAnn Howard of McKinney, Texas and Sharon Perkins LaFerry of Bartlesville and a nephew, Duane Perkins of Bartlesville. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Everett Perkins, Chester Perkins, Adrin Perkins and Darwin Perkins.
