Funeral services for Alvin Pendergraft, age 82, will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at Hart Funeral Home of Westville with Bro. Tad Thomason and Bro. Greg Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Beaty Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
Alvin Leroy Pendergraft was born October 4, 1926, in Pineville, Missouri, the son of Jessie and Eva Mae (Chrisman) Pendergraft. He departed this life on June 16, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas at the age of 82.
Alvin was married to Lela Rich on August 12, 1951, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Their union was blessed with three daughters, Sherrie, Susie and Frances.
Alvin was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He worked as a controlman for Skelly Oil Company, retiring after many years of service. Alvin was a member of Harvard Avenue Baptist Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clifford, Dale and Jessie Pendergraft, three sisters, Ona Rupe, Mable Williams and Goldie Pendergraft and two daughters, Susie Larson and Frances Maxine Pendergraft.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving family which includes his wife of nearly 58 years, Lela Pendergraft, of Siloam Springs, AR; one daughter, Sherrie Williams and husband, Tommy, of Westville; two grandchildren, Luke Williams, of Tahlequah, Lagenna Bennett and husband, Ryan, of Broken Arrow; one sister, Elsie Davis, of Centerton, AR, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.
