Barbara Ann Kearns Pendergraff, former Agra resident, passed away early Monday morning, October 17, 2011 in the Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years.
The daughter of the late Thomas Kearns and Pearl Overacker Kearns, Barbara was born on September 23, 1939 in Vera, Oklahoma.
She was reared and educated in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In 1955, Barbara met Charles Pendergraff and they were united in marriage on December 10, 1956. To this union four children, Anita, Gary, Ron, and Gearld were born.
Barbara and her husband lived in Bartlesville until 1965 when Safeway, the company which Charles worked for, moved them to Tulsa and eventually to Bristow and then to Cushing. Charles then began working for an oil refinery in Cushing in 1970. In 1968 they moved to Agra where they continued living until his death in 2001.
Barbara moved to Woodward, Oklahoma in November of 2002 to be near her daughter and in October of 2008 she moved to Tulsa to be near her son.
She was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church.
Barbara retired from the Cushing Wal-Mart store in 2002 but continued working part time for Wal-Mart in Woodward and Tulsa. Barbara also was employed with LaMode Cleaners in Tulsa and always enjoyed spending her time with the wonderful people that worked there.
Survivors include one daughter, Anita Starling and her husband Bob of Woodward, Oklahoma; three sons, Gary Pendergraff and his wife Dorothy of Tulsa; Ronald Pendergraff and his wife Stacy of Agra, Oklahoma; and Gearld Pendergraff and his wife Cindy of Agra, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, Bryan Pendergraff, Justin Pendergraff, Michele Pendergraff Brown, Deana Pettus, Ronnie Pendergraff, Cody Pendergraff, Steven Starling, Hillary Jantz, April Cook, Justin Ford and Tara Vanbrunt; fourteen great-grandchildren, Ryan Pendergraff, Hailey Pendergraff, Dakota Pettus, Dylan Pettus, Taylor Bowen, Rylie Pendergraff, Brooke Pendergraff, Bryce Nash, Jeffrey Cook, Xavier Cook Tyler Ford, Maggie Skinner, Dominik Slater and Kade Jantz; one sister Donna Anderson and her husband Dr. Michael Anderson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four brothers, Bill Evans and his wife Leta of Ochelata, Oklahoma; Clinton Henshall, Jr. and his wife Linda of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Bill Henshall of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; and Jerry Henshall and his wife Frankie of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends including her very special friends, Sparky and Sharon Church and of course her very special dog �Missy.�
In addition to her parents and her husband Charles, Barbara was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Kearns and one brother, Eddie Kearns.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2011 in the Sheridan Christian Center {205 S. Sheridan} Tulsa, Oklahoma with burial to follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Ochelata Cemetery, Ochelata, Oklahoma.
The family will be receiving friends at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
