Memorial services for Mrs. Jean Peck, age 90, of Norman, will begin at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in The Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman.
Jean was born November 29, 1921 in McGehee, Arkansas the daughter of Noel Ezra and Bertha Ellen (Lowe) Barrett. She passed away Wednesday evening, August 1, 2012 at her home.
Jean gradated from Bartlesville High School in 1939. She later attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics in 1949.
Jean was united in marriage to Mr. George E. Peck on February 22, 1948 in Stillwater.
She served in the United States Navy during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1945.
Jean moved to Norman from Broken Bow, Oklahoma in 2000 to be close to her
son, Brent Peck.
Jean enjoyed working crossword puzzles, keeping current
on politics and loved engaging in deep conversations. She would often
remark, “Old age isn't for Sissies” and lived each day to the fullest. She
had an incredible zest for life and believed in keeping her mind sharp with
current events, places and people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George E. Peck on June 17, 1996; one brother; John Barrett; and one sister; Ruth McPherson.
Survivors include her son, Brent Peck of Noble, Oklahoma; two daughters, Deborah Moelich and her husband, Robert, of Navarre, Florida, and Gretchen Brant, and her husband, Ken of Chanute, Kansas; six grandchildren; Carrie Eilders and her husband, Martin, Amber Brill, Robert Moelich, Tara Tourtillott and her husband, Devon, Derie Guptill, and her husband, Mark, and Shane Hudson, and his wife, Stefanie; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Barrett and his wife, Neree of Kaysville, Utah; one sister, Pat Remund of Yucaipa, California; and her pet schnauzer, Sage.
Arrangements for Jean and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
