Memorial services for Catherine "Cathy" McGill Pearson, age 47, formerly of Norman, will begin at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 235 West Duffy in Norman.
Cathy was born November 9, 1965, the daughter of Mike and Elizabeth (McDermott) McGill in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 in Billings, Montana.
Cathy or Cat, as she was known by family and friends, spent her entire childhood in Norman, graduating from Norman High School in 1984. While at NHS she enjoyed participating on the Pon Pom Squad and the Percussion Section of the Tiger Marching Band.
After high school, Cathy attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma, pursing a degree in English and Art History.
Cathy's love for music and her sincerity with people enabled her to excel in music retail and the restaurant food service industries. Her compassion for others led her to working at Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary where she cared for animals unable to be returned to their natural environment. She was known for carrying an extra leash in her car in case she came across a lost or wandering animal. She enjoyed reuniting families with their lost pets with a big warm smile and a sparkle in her eyes as she did on countless occasions.
Cathy was passionately devoted to her family and friends. The highlight of her life was meeting and marrying her best friend and soul mate, Chris, whom she married on October 23, 2004 in Golden, Colorado. Cathy and Chris shared a very special relationship that very few are blessed to have.
Cathy enjoyed spending time with her husband in the mountains, hiking, skiing, snow shoeing and picnicking in the snow. A highlight of these experiences was climbing to the top of Torrey's Peak, her first Colorado fourteen-er. In addition to the mountain adventures, she loved the simplicity of nature while walking up mountain trails with her dog Lucy. No place on earth brought as much peace and fullness in her heart than the natural setting of the Rocky Mountains.
She enjoyed reminiscing about special times with her grandparents, a simple story of summers in Michigan, the gang of friends on McCall Drive and meeting Chris on the doorstep after an extended time away. Of the many things Cathy meant to others, she will be most remembered for her deep loyalty and unwavering commitment to her family and friends. Her sharp wit, being the "cool chic that rocked the flannel shirt" of the group, and infectious laughter will be just a few of the moments that have now evolved into memories of our time with her.
We will treasure the time we spent with Cathy cheering on the Sooners,
the Broncos, and the Colorado Avalanche.
Cathy will be greatly missed,
but will live on through the kindness and compassion she gave others and in
our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Kermit and Nadine McGill; her maternal grandparents, George and Elizabeth McDermott and her uncle, Jack McGill.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Pearson of Billings, Montana; her parents, Mike and Elizabeth McGill of Richardson, Texas; one sister, Anne Hutchison and her husband, Marion of Norman; nephews, Matthew Hutchison and Tyler Belloni; niece, Grace Belloni; goddaughters, Charlie, Mackenzie, and Gabrielle Abbey; and her "four-legged woman's best friend" Lucy.

Arrangements for Cathy and her family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
