Lathin Dale Buzzy Payton, 69, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at his home.
He was born October 24, 1949 to Lonnie Kevin and Betty Jo (Stewart) Payton in Lubbock, Texas.
Buzzy was raised in Tishomingo.
He married Jo Ellen Tarbox on August 11, 2010 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Buzzy worked alongside his dad as a concrete finisher working on the Oklahoma Canal, the Myriad and the Kerr McGee Building.
He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Buzzy was a musician and song writer. He played Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Electric Guitar and the harmonica. His best friend was his wife, Jo Ellen. He loved his dog, Trixie and was an avid OU Football and OKC Thunder fan and a fan of Bob Seger music and loved to fish.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Payton; sister, Linda Boland; brother, Jimmy Payton; niece, Heather Gilbert; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Si and Frieda Tarbox; and 2 sisters-in-law, Sharyl Patten and Shereatta Tarbox.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jo Ellen Payton of the home; mother, Betty Payton of Antlers, OK; brother, Billy and Bettie Payton of Antlers, OK; sister, Twila and Steve Heidelberg of Ada, OK; brother, Don Payton of Anthers, OK; 2 sisters-in-law, Suzi Gannon and Debbie Fairchild; 2 brothers-in-law, Roy West and Gus Tarbox; special cousins, David Payton of Spicewood, TX, Bill Payton of Utah and Kim Payton of Utah; and other extended family and friends.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Payton officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
