On Dec. 17, 2020, Golda Evelyn Gotheridge Patterson, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and teacher, went to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord, and be reunited with Lewis H. Patterson on what would have been their 79th wedding anniversary.
She was born on March 27, 1918, on a homestead near Hay Springs, Nebraska. Golda spent her 102 years serving others. As a teenager, she faithfully cared for her younger siblings after her mother passed away. As a young woman, she determinedly devoted herself to her studies and became a teacher, teaching over 35 years in South Dakota and Texas. Golda cherished her husband and best friend, Lewis, and her only daughter Sharon. She took great pride and joy in her granddaughters and great grandchildren.
Golda is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Errol Hada (Bartlesville, OK); granddaughters and husbands, Jamie and Andrew Newberry (Wichita Falls, TX), Amanda and Lester Wyatt (Bartlesville), and Amelia and Brandon Bushman (Alva, OK); great grandchildren Andi Nicole, Jacob, James, and Audri Newberry; Avery, Lane, and Josiah Wyatt; Lydia, Landon, Maesyn, Maverick, and Eden Bushman; sisters Edna Parent (Isle, Minnesota) and Adelia Amelia Price (Lincoln, Nebraska); stepsisters Grace Cole (Mulvane, KS) and Esther Paulson (Virginia Beach, Virginia) and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edna Helen and Harry Leroy Gotheridge; stepmother Ruth Gotheridge; brothers Ernest, Lester, George, Charles; and sisters Phoebe, Mildred, Lydia, Eileen, Rosie.
The family is grateful to the nurses and staff at Medicalodges Dewey, Cornerstone Hospice, and Brookdale Home Health for their gentle, supportive care of Golda these past months.
In honor of Golda’s many years of teaching, her family encourages you, on Golda’s birthday March 27th, to “pay it forward” towards a teacher or caregiver by buying them lunch or a special treat to show your appreciation of their service.
