Andrew Hiram Park

October 13, 1881 ~ Sep 14, 1949

Funeral services for Andrew Hiram Park, retired pioneer farmer and rancher who died at his home in Sayre, Wednesday, were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Durham.

Park was born October 13, 1881 in Madison county, Texas, and came to Oklahoma Territory in 1899.

He homesteaded at the present site of Durham in 1901.

He was married to Miss Myrtle Francis Hardin at Canadian, Texas January 4, 1905. The couple made their home near Crawford until 1948 when they moved to Sayre.

He was a long time member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Park, 411 West Elm, Sayre; three daughters, Mrs. Velmer Crider and Mrs. Marjorie Crider, both of Mountain Home, Texas; Mrs. Leila Paschal of Wetumka, Oklahoma; four sons, Floyd Park of Durham; Hollis Park of Rosemond, California; Harlan Park of Sioux City, Iowa; and O. T. Park of Reydon; one brother, Grover Park of Quanah, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Lilly Harris of Quanah, Texas; and Mrs. Maggie Urquhart of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; as well as other relatives and friends.

The Rev. Sanford Cole and Loyd Williams, both of Canadian, Texas officiated.

Pallbearers were Reginald Estes, Glen Cecil, Dick Strickland, Tim Cockrell, Austin Riley and Bruce Thomas.

Burial was in the Eller Flat cemetery, Hemphill county, Texas with the Scroggins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
