Eric Kyle Paddock

Eric Kyle Paddock
September 14, 1978 ~ February 22, 2024

Eric Kyle Paddock passed away on February 22, 2024, in Durant, Oklahoma. He was born on September 14, 1978, in Denison, Texas to William Eugene Paddock, Jr. and Shirley Ann (Morriss) Paddock. He graduated from Durant High School in 1997, and he was proud to say, “Once a lion, always a lion.” On October 22, 2005, surrounded by family and friends, Eric married Amanda Whatley at Lake Texoma Lodge.

A skilled boat technician and electrician, Eric was known for his work ethic and his ability to fix just about anything. He had a great love of tinkering on cars, lawnmowers, and anything with a motor. Eric had the tool for every problem. He loved to help his friends and neighbors, and he was happiest when he could fix a problem that had been vexing you. Always willing to offer a helping hand, Eric was quick to jump in and chat with you about how best to fix everything. He likely didn’t have just one tool to fix your issue, he had four.

A proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Eric's heritage was a source of great pride and played a significant role in his life. His heritage tied him to Southeastern Oklahoma and his love of the land, water, air, and sky. Eric was a member of the Elks Lodge where he dedicated time and service. His contributions, camaraderie, and sense of humor were highly valued by one and all. He loved being part of this tradition and this community. Eric loved his community and served his family, friends, and neighbors with great care and dedication.

Eric's love for the outdoors was evident in his favorite pastimes. He was happiest when boating across the lake or camping under the stars. Eric knew Lake Texoma like the back of his hand. He knew every inlet, island, dock, marina, and fishing spot. What Eric loved more than the lake, was showing the lake to his friends and family. Long summer days at the lakes and late summer nights were where he shined. He loved to share stories, food, and friendship around the fire. It will be here that Eric will be missed in the hearts and minds of his friends and family. A gifted storyteller, it was hard to leave in the middle of one of Eric’s tales. This sometimes led to late nights getting later, but you didn’t want to miss the story. If Eric wasn’t camping or boating, his was tending his yard and garden. He was a man that enjoyed mowing and getting his yard just so. He was also happy to give you good natured advice regarding your lawn as well.

Eric’s culinary skills shone brightest when he was grilling or cooking, often sharing his delicious creations with friends and family. He loved to share his food as much as he enjoyed grilling it. He wanted to know not only that you liked it, but what you liked about it. He would often share the secret to every great grilled masterpiece—low and slow, low and slow. His joy of grilling and cooking was really sharing the joy of friendship and time with family. To share a meal with Eric was to be part of his circle, and to feel included and part of his family.

Eric is survived by his wife, Amanda Paddock of Durant, Oklahoma; his mother, Shirley Paddock of Durant, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Kathy Whatley of Durant, Oklahoma; his sister-in-law, Stasha Krupicka and her husband JD of Paris, Texas; and his cherished dogs, Captain and Stella.

Those preceding him in death are his father William Paddock, Jr., his father-in-law Sidney Whatley, his grandparents Billy Ann Paddock and William Paddock, Sr., as well as Joe and Hellen Morriss.

A time of visitation and remembrance will take place at his Family Hour on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Street, Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
