Shirley Owens of Atoka passed peacefully at home on February 5, 2023 at the age of 73. She was born on June 19, 1949 in Bryan County, Oklahoma to Royce Minor and Charlene (Cambel) Ayers.
Shirley loved helping others and worked as a nurse in the healthcare industry. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband Bobby of Atoka, her daughter Shiryl Trowbridge of Atoka, her sons JR Hobbie and wife Cassandra of Lehigh, Oklahoma and William Alford and wife Chandra of Caney, Oklahoma, stepsons Kenneth Owens and wife Sheila of Atoka, Jerry Owens and wife Aimee of Wilton, NM, and Russell Owens and wife Linda of Valley Springs, California, and her stepdaughters Brenda Butterfield and husband Jack of Atoka and Tammy Westervelt and husband Steve of Coppell, Texas.
She is also survived by her sisters Sherry Fincher and husband Loyd of Caney, Oklahoma, and Wilma Jean Ayers of Stringtown, Oklahoma. Her legacy lives on with her 30 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents Royce and Charlene Ayers, two sisters Donna Goss and Frankie Ayers, three brothers Buddy Ayers, Wayne Ayers and Wendall Ayers, son-in-law Larry Trowbridge, and great-grandson Carson Hobbie.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home with Brother Sammy Vaughn officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Don McCoy, Stephen Stiles, Brandon Stiles, Kevin Hobbie, Justin Hobbie, Joshua Lang, Remington Trowbridge, Jerrid Hobbie, Jayden Hobbie, Donavan Alford, Dylan Alford, Ethan Yates, and Tanner Smith.
