Thomas James Owen, a Coalgate resident, was born on July 10, 1932, to Thomas Linward and Helen Mar (Hayes) Owen, at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully at his home in Coalgate, Oklahoma, on December 11, 2024, at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 1 day. Tom lived in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Virginia and South Dakota.
Tom graduated from Classen High School in the Class of 1950. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry at Oklahoma State University in 1957 then received his Master's Degree in Foresty at Utah State University in 1961.
He was a District Manager of the Bureau of Land Management of the Department of the Interior for 35 years in Colorado, Nevada and Alaska. Tom was also director for Alaska Fire Services.
He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954.
Tom married Norma Jean Shearer on June 4, 1955. They were blessed with 69 years together.
He loved being a member of the Coalgate Methodist Church Choir. Tom was a lover of music and well regarded luthier, making fiddle bows and repairing instruments in his retirement.

Joseph L. Owen and wife Cathy of Blanco, TX
7 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren
