Richard Jens “Dick” Osland

Richard Jens “Dick” Osland
August 5, 1942 ~ December 21, 2022

Richard “Dick” Jens Osland, 80, of Bison, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at his home on December 21, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Dick was born in Mayville, North Dakota to Walter and Dorthy Osland. He served as an avionics electrician in the US Navy for 22 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. Although he was stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station for the last several years of his military career, he was usually at sea on the aircraft carrier USS John F Kennedy. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1984. He moved his permanent residence to the Bison, Oklahoma area soon thereafter and began a second career as a truck driver. In the last several years he continued to drive trucks for area farmers.

He loved spending time with the children in his large, extended family. He could often be found sitting around the table at the Bison Coop, drinking coffee and visiting with the other farmers. He had regular daily stops at restaurants and other businesses, and developed close, warm relationships with the people he met there.

He is survived by his daughter, Inger Faherty; grandchild, Charlie Faherty; brother Douglas (Karen) Osland; beloved nephews Terry (Tinna), Larry (Ella), and Barry (Ashley) Osland; niece-in-law Joni Osland; and numerous other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers John Osland and Walter Osland, sister Juliann Garrett, and nephew Jerry Osland. This beloved father and grandfather and devoted uncle leaves many happy memories and will be greatly missed.

No service is planned at this time. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
