Memorial service for William "Bill" Steve Orban, 85, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Choate officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Bill was born to Joseph and Mary (Kovach) Orban on April 25, 1928, in Tiltonsville, Ohio, and died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, in Sapulpa, Okla. Bill grew up in the Ohio Valley and graduated from Nowata High School in Nowata, Okla. On July 3, 1950, he married Jennie Marie McMains.
Bill served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, then worked 14 years at Champlin Refinery in Enid. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
He loved tinkering around in his shop making wooden cars and trucks and his gift of gab had the ability to make anyone an immediate friend.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie; four grandchildren, Sharon Pearson and husband Jared, Jason Crawley, Jeffrey Oltmanns and Jennie Snow and husband Preston; three great-granddaughters, Annalise Orban, Claire Oltmanns and Kinley Snow; son-in-law, Connie Mack Oltmanns; daughter-in-law, Mary Crawley and husband Ken; brother, James Orban; sister, Violet McLain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by son, Terry Orban; daughter, Debra Oltmanns; and sister, Rosemary Orban.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or Christ United Methodist Church.
