Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 16th at 11:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane, for Lucille Elzie O'Grady, 76, of Bakersfield, who passed away November 11, 2004, in Bakersfield. Pastor Jack Counts will officiate.
Mrs. O'Grady was born March 9, 1928 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and had been a resident of Kern County for 70 years. Lucy was a feisty lady that made raising two kids a career. She was a success. As a mother she was at the top of her class. She provided but didn't spoil. She taught us that laughter was important and that you could laugh at yourself and it could feel good. We owe our independence and ability to prosper to this woman that was small in stature but mighty in presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Susan Touchstone; two brothers, Jackie and Wilburn Touchstone and a sister, Brenda Fisher. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jon J. and Cynthia O'Grady of Bakersfield; daughter and son-in-law, Janet P. and Terry Pollard of Cool, CA; grandchildren, Chelsea, Hayley, Macy and Joshua; great granddaughter, Madison; brothers, Ollie and Elwood Touchstone; sisters, Betty Counts, Yvonne Dodd and Mary Jordan; and many nieces and nephews.
Lucy loved family, especially her mom and dad. She loved yard sales, lottery tickets and her annual birthday trip to Las Vegas. She was a strong, stubborn woman that was a block in the foundation of our lives and she has left us to support each other and will be missed.
We Love You Mom
