Elizabeth Jane ‘Liza’ (LeFevre) Ockershauser

Elizabeth Jane ‘Liza’ (LeFevre) Ockershauser
June 20, 1946 ~ July 12, 2019 (age 73)

Elizabeth Jane ‘Liza’ Ockershauser, 73, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2019. She was born on June 20, 1946, in Oklahoma City to Jane and William LeFevre. Liza graduated from The Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas, and attended the University of Oklahoma where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and later served on the house board for many years. Liza remained an avid “Sooner” fan and particularly loved the fall football season.

While finishing her Master’s degree, Liza married Kurt Ockershauser on September 19th, 1970. Liza and Kurt were married for 49 years and had 2 children, Kristin and Patrick. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. She was devoted to her children and her five grandchildren always applauding their school performances and activities and cheering them on in sports.

Liza loved to travel, enchanted by the amazing cultures and people she encountered around the world. She was an enthusiastic collector, a skillful miniaturist, and an accomplished craftswoman in needlepoint and cross stitch. Liza loved people. She was outgoing and always friendly - a genuinely kind and generous person to all who knew her. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she always looked forward to spending Christmas morning with her children and grandchildren gathered around the Christmas tree.

Liza is survived by her husband of 49 years, Kurt Ockershauser; daughter Kristin Hook and her husband Kevin; son Patrick Ockershauser and his wife, Jessica; five grandchildren, Kyle and Kate Hook, Claire, Olivia, and Emily Ockershauser; uncle, Patrick Cashman; two half-sisters, Sean Massad and Jo Johnson; and sister-in-law, Kristin Ockershauser. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Roma Cashman; mother and step father, Jane and Charles Brewer; father, William LeFevre; and her brother, Bill LeFevre.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 235 W. Duffy St, Norman.

Flowers are welcome. Memorial donations may be sent to the University of Oklahoma’s Stephenson Cancer Center.
