Rogers, Arkansas – A Memorial service for Ovetta Jean Oakley, 76, was Wednesday, May 8, 2002, in First United Methodist Church of Rogers. The Rev. Sandy Wanasec officiated. There was a private burial. Arrangements were by Callison – Lough Funeral Service.
She was born March 20, 1926, in Hennessey to Ovie Francis and Henryetta Frances Murphy Rothmire and died Saturday, May 4, 2002, in Nashville, Tennessee.
On March 26, 1948, she married Ralph Dale Oakley in Hennessey.
She earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Oklahoma University in 1949, then traveled throughout the United States. She moved from Enid to Rogers in 1989 and to Nashville in 2000.
She was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Rogers and Altrusa Club, from which she received a Volunteer of the Year award in 1998.
Surviving are one son, Bryan of Tulsa; two daughters, Lori Purcell of Nashville and Deena Gregory of Stillwater; one brother, Roy Rothmire of Hennessey; two sisters, Alice Stribel of Hennessey and Lila Greene of Catoosa; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband October 7, 1971, and one sister.
