Herbert "Herb" Nutter was born July 26, 1945 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Velma Dean (Rice) and Clyde Herbert Nutter. He passed away April 1, 2019 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 6 days.
Herb grew up around Eufaula and attended school at Selman, Oklahoma. He graduated in 1963 and enlisted in the United States Army. Herb served stateside and was a cook throughout his military career.
After his discharge Herb began his career in the oil field where he worked for Texas Oil and Gas and Marathon Oil before he went out on his own as an independent consultant. Early during his career he met Barbara Ann Devlin and 3 weeks later they were married at Canadian, Texas on May 18, 1978. Herb and Barbara lived in Woodward, Oklahoma until 1982 when they moved to Oklahoma City where they made their home. Herb was a workaholic but enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; son, Lance Dean Nutter and fiance`, Jan Helling, Elk City, OK; 4 grandchildren, Blake Nutter, Hammon, OK, Hannah Butler and husband, Jordan, Tyler, TX, Amanda Norman and husband, Troy, Waco, TX and Logan Grigg and wife, Lauren, Odessa, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Jasper and Rooney Butler and Sloane Norman; 2 sisters, Linda McClain and husband, Don and Beverly Thompson and a host of other relatives.
Private family services are being held.
