Walter Clifford {Buffalo} Norton, 66, Marland OK, formerly of Arkansas City, died Thursday at 9 p.m. At Memorial Hospital following and extended Illness.

He was born Feb 15, 1903, at Bartlesville OK, to John Norton and Amelia Ann Hall Norton. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September of 1942 and Served as a private with Co. K, 349 Inf. He was discharged at Camp Chaffee, AR, on July 28, 1943.

He married Mrs Elizabeth Jordan on Dec 5, 1961, at Newkirk, and was Employed for Powers Roofing Co. For 14 years, retiring in 1968. They moved To Marland from Arkansas City in 1969.

He was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Duane, on July 17, 1964.

He was a member of the Free Holiness Church.

Survivors include his widow of the home, three step-sons, Charles L. Tiffeny of Bunston, MO, Melvin Chapman of 507 E Van Buren Ave., and Jimmy Jordan of Tulsa, six step-daughter, Mrs Waunita Thurston of Ft. Scott KS, Mrs Avis Sears of Wichata, Mrs Jean Mort of 408 S 10th St., Mrs Betty Roper of Bartlesville, Mrs Cleto LeClair and Miss Dorothy L Jordan, both of Marland, one brother, John Norton, of Bartlesville, and four sisters, Mrs Walter (Jessie) Clay of 608 S Fourth St., Mrs Pearl Benefiel of Nowata, OK, and Mrs Violet Millison of Sedan.

Funeral Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. At the Grant-Elder Funeral Home, with Rec C. H. Parks of Webb City, OK, officiation. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military commital rites.

W. C. Norton Dies in Kansas; Rites Monday

Walter Clifford, 66, of Marland, known as "Buffalo" to friends, died at 9 p.m. in Memorial Hospital in Arkansas CIty, KS, after a long illness.

Mr. Norton was of Choctaw Indian Heritage and was born here in Bartlesville to John and Amelia Ann Hall Norton Feb 15, 1903. He served in WW II as a private in Co. K, 394 Infantry. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of the home; a brother, John Norton, 144 N Rogers, Bartlesville, and three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Clay, Arkansas City; Mrs. Violet Millison, Sedan KS; and Mrs Pearl Benefiel, Nowata. He was a member Of the Free Holiness Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Grant-Elder Funeral Home in Arkansas City with the Rev. C. H. Park of Webb City, OK, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Arkansas City. Beside the grave of his only son, Tommy, who died in July 1964.

He was preceded in death by sons Richard Clifford Norton on Sept. 8, 1948 and Tommy Duane, on July 17, 1964.

He was a member of the Free Holiness Church.

His widow of the home, three stepsons, Charles L. Tiffeny of Bunston,Mo., Melvin Chapman of 507 E. Van Buren Ave., and Jimmy Jordan of Tulsa, six stepdaughter, Mrs. Waunita Thurston of Ft. Scott, Ks., Mrs. Avis Sears of Wichita, Mrs. Jean Mort of 408 S. 10th St. Mrs. Betty Ropes of Bartlesville, Mrs. Cleto LeClair and Miss Dorothy L. Jordan both of Marland, one brother John Norton of Bartlesville, and four sisters, Mrs. Walter (Jessie) Clay of 821 N. Forth St., Mrs. Pearl Benefiel of Nowata, Okla., and Mrs. Violet Millison of Sadan.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Grant-Elder Funeral home with Rev. C.H. Parks of Webb City, Okla., officiating. Mrs. Gary Pappan vocalist, with Mrs. LaVerne Williams as organist. Pall bearers are members of the American Legion and include Robert Earle, George Emo, Henry McIntire, Alvie Stephens, Darwin Wright and Clifford Rupp.

Military rites were conferred with George Brill as commander, Rev. Parks as chaplain, and W.L. Larson and Nick Dorner as colorbearers. Brill and Rev. Parks folded the flag, and Brill presented it. Rex Beeney served as Bugler.
