Our loving, beautiful mother left this earth on July 26, 2020. We know that the peace and joy of Jesus Christ and eternal life is with her. Rita Janet Ashworth Norris (“Hunie” to all her grandchildren) was born April 14, 1935 in Commerce, TX. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1953. Rita was a cheerleader in the Kiyi pep club. On November 18, 1952 she married the love of her life, Harvey Howard Norris, who preceded her in death in December, 2014. Rita attended OCU, studying economics. She was a member of Western Oaks Christian Church since 1966. She and Harvey enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO. Reading was her passion.
Rita is survived by her sons, Jeff (Lizzette) Norris, Ty (Keri) Norris; daughter, Kellie (Mike) Biggers; grandchildren, Robert (Heather) Norris, Kathy (Bryan) Maclin, Bailey Norris, Cole Prince, Foster (Ashley) Biggers and Cooper (Maddie) Biggers; and great-grandchildren, Gabby Maclin, Bella Maclin, Marshall Biggers, Max Biggers and Brooks Biggers. The family wishes to thank Rita’s caregivers, Kathy Cannella and Valir Hospice Care. In loving memory of Rita, the family has a special request. Sit down and take the time to read a good book!
Private family services will be held Wednesday, July 29, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. The service will be webcast live.
