Gilbert Derwin Norlin, 83, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away at 1:17 a.m., Thursday, September 18th, 2014, peacefully, at Lindsborg Community Hospital.
Gilbert was born in McPherson, Kansas on January 14, 1931, a son of Gretta Mae (Eash) and Harold C. Norlin.
Gilbert attended grade schools in McPherson, Kansas and Okmulgee, Oklahoma and graduated from Blackwell High School, Blackwell, Oklahoma.
He joined the U.S. Army Air Force.
Gilbert worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Wellington, Kansas and later in Amarillo, Texas. He retired after more than 30 years with the company.
He enjoyed antiques, and collecting various items, including; coins, stamps, postcards, toys, dishes, and especially antique cars.
He was a resident at Bethany Home, Lindsborg, Kansas for over 16 years.
He is survived by his sister Anita Hopkins, of McPherson, Kansas; several other relatives and a host of friends.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents Harold C., and Gretta Mae; and his brother, Harold Leon Norlin.
There will be no visitation.
Private family graveside service at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22nd, 2014, with Pastor Bill Buschbom officiating.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany Home, Lindsborg, Kansas, on Monday, September 22nd, 2014, at 2:30 p.m.
