Wendy Ann Norberg, 63, passed away on Wednesday, September 6th, 2017, from injuries sustained in a four vehicle accident in Baca County on Highway 287, 12 miles north of Springfield, Colorado. Driving with her in the vehicle, was her youngest son Craig James Norberg, who also passed away.
Wendy was born on March 30, 1954, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard Kelsey and Sandra Preece. At the age of 8, her mother was re-married to Thurman Preece, who Wendy looked to and thought of as her father. On December 5, 1975, she married her sweetheart and best friend James John Norberg III (Jim). They loved each other dearly, and were married for 42 years. Wendy and Jim were inseparable. While Jim was working for the United States Air Force, they had the opportunity to live in many places; Nevada, South Dakota, Utah, New York, Japan and Germany. In November of 1995, they moved for the last time together to their current residence, Del City, Oklahoma. During their various destinations, they had 3 amazing children along the way; Patrick, Rachel and Craig. Wendy was a loving mother who dedicated her life to providing the best life possible for her children. She loved them dearly and enjoyed making memories with each of them through various sporting activities and many vacations. She had a good sense of humor and could be heard saying things like, "you're too twisted for color tv" or "your mouth is like a canon, you're always shooting it off!" She was a woman that spoke her mind, and taught her children to do the same. Through active church involvement, she taught them to value and appreciate their lives by being selfless. Motherhood is, in itself, a lifetime of selfless service. Wendy loved being a mother, and later in life found that being a grandmother was another blessing that she embraced wholeheartedly. Grandma Wendy loved all of her grandbabies. They will miss her loving arms and generous heart. She exemplified love and possessed an unwavering loyalty to her family. We will miss her loving arms, her sweet smile, and her caring heart. While a piece of our hearts is hurting, we take comfort in knowing that she leaves us being accompanied with her baby boy, Craig, as they join her mother and father in Eternal Peace with their Father in Heaven. God be with you till we meet again.
She is survived by her husband, James John Norberg III; brothers, Steven (Denise) and Scott (Tamie) Kelsey; sisters-in-law, Mary Mafia, Susan Hubble; brother-in-law, Bill Norberg; children, Patrick (DeeAnn) Norberg; Rachel Norberg; grandchildren, Kalaina, Gwendolyn, Darin, Asha, Daniel, Brian, Trystan and Leia; and many other family members.
During this time of her passing, she is joined with her youngest son Craig James Norberg, and is preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Sandra Preece. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 14th at the Sunny Lane Funeral Home (4000 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK)
