Linzy Byrl Nolan

Linzy Byrl Nolan
February 26, 1940 ~ November 4, 2015

L.B. Nolan, 75, of Goodman MO, passed into eternal rest on November 4, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin MO as a result of injuries sustained in a tractor accident on his farm.

Linzy Byrl Nolan was born on February 26, 1940 at the home of his parents, Joseph (Fate) and Theresa (Shook) Nolan, in the Lyon's Switch community near Stilwell OK. He was a graduate of Cave Springs High School in Bunch OK and earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education from Northeastern State College (now NSU) in Tahlequah OK. His first year of teaching was in the Noel, MO school system, followed by 19 years in the Seneca, MO school district where he eventually served as principal of the junior high and, later, of Seneca High School. It was in Seneca that he met his future wife, Beverly Jo Hutchison. They were married at the First Christian Church in Seneca on August 21, 1964. After his teaching career in Seneca, L.B. served seven years as principal of Wheaton (MO) High School. In 1989 he began employment at Leggett & Platt Manufacturing in Joplin MO from which he retired in 2005 and began farming full time.

L.B. was a people person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed visiting and telling and listening to stories. He loved his students, family and friends. Even today his former students fondly recall that as a teacher and principal L.B. was tough but always fair. He was a member of the Good Ol' Boys Coffee Club at the C-Mart and Goodman Gas. L.B.'s hobbies were being outdoors, cutting wood, farming, cattle, gardening and helping his friends and neighbors. He took pride in keeping his farm, Dogwood Springs, perfectly manicured. He was an active member of Rocketdyne Road Church of Christ in Neosho MO.

L.B. is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly; one son, Chad Linzy Nolan and wife Mary of Neosho MO; one daughter, Cindy Kay Morgan and husband Scott of Stella MO; two grandchildren, Nikolas Nolan Manley of Goodman MO and Samantha Joy Nolan of Neosho MO; two brothers, George Nolan and wife Phyllis of Park Hill OK; Don Nolan and wife Mina of Tulsa OK; and a host of extended family, students and many, many friends.

L.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Theresa and Fate; two brothers, Dean Nolan and Lenard Nolan; and one sister, Billie Jean Wisely.

The family received friends on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Campbell- Biddlecome Funeral Home in Seneca. Following the visitation the body was taken for cremation.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
