Connie Ray Nixon
January 2, 1946 ~ April 12, 2022

Connie Nixon, 76 year old long time Freedom resident, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022 on his land near Freedom. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2022 at Kari's Horse Pasture. The family asks that everyone dress casual. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Connie Ray Nixon was born on January 2, 1946 in Freedom, Oklahoma to Emard Lee and Clara Irene (Plumlee) Nixon. He grew up on the family farm. The family later moved to the town of Freedom where Connie went to high school. He graduated from Freedom High School in 1964. Connie was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Tana Jean Ferguson on September 22, 1964 in Oklahoma City at Victor Nixon's home. They were blessed with two children: Bret Roy and Kari. The family made their home in Freedom and have lived there since that time.

In the early 1960's, Connie worked for a custom harvest crew with Oscar Hughes, worked for B&B Vending in Oklahoma City, the Mooreland Gas Plant as a Set Up Journeyman, an oilfield hand, Jr. Walkers elevator, and North American Brine as a Night Watchman. Connie owned and operated Nixon Materials Redi-Mix for over 25 years and Nixon Overhead Bins. He spent his lifetime raising cattle from Herefords to Salers to Angus. He enjoyed seeing the fruits of his labors in a successful steer crop and replacement heifers growing into the finest cows.

Connie was a member of the American Angus Association and served on the Freedom School Board for 21 years. He enjoyed fishing, snake hunting and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and collecting military treasures.

He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Tana Nixon of the home; one son, Bret Nixon and wife Jenny of Freedom; one daughter Kari Nixon of Freedom; four grandchildren: Kalei Creswell and husband Cody, Brayden Nixon and Monica, Mckenna Lowe and husband Preston, Myles Nixon and friend Lexie; five great-grandchildren: Bronx Nixon, Tatum, Bristol, Brazos, and Brays Creswell; one sister, Anna Marie Nixon Davis and her children and grandchildren; brother-in-law, Troy and Ashley Ferguson and their children and grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Victor Nixon, brothers-in-law, John Eugene Ferguson, Jr, Harold Ray Davis, a dear friend of the family Joe Aday, and his mischievous friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Fire Department with the Billings Funeral Home, 1621 Downs Avenue, Woodward, OK. 73801 accepting the contributions.
