Thursday morning of this week Mrs. O. R. Newman of Helena, Montana, in company with Claude Shaller whose wife is Mr. Newman's sister, called at our office and told us of the death of Dr. Newman of Canadian, Texas on June 6, 1923.
Dr. Alfred M. Newman has been a practicing physician in Canadian for thirty two years and has a very wide acquaintance in the Panhandle and also in this county as in the early day he was often called into this county to practice.
He apparently was enjoying good health up until his death as he ate a hearty meal at noon and enjoyed the time spent at his home, staying longer than usual at the noon hour. He went to his office where he died at about 3 o'clock.
His remains were laid to rest in the Canadian cemetery, Sunday, June 10, 1923.
Dr. Newman was the father of Mrs. Claude Shaller who has the sympanthy of the people of her community in her bereavement.
Mrs. Newman will accompany Mr. O. R. Newman, her son, to Helena, Montana where she will probably make her future home. Mr. Newman is Montana Plant Superintendent for the Montana State Telephone and Telegraph Company.
Mr. Newman was born August 29, 1861.
Burial in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery, Canadian, Texas.
