Billy Gene Newcomb, 86, was born November 29, 1937, in Durant, Oklahoma. He passed away on July 2, 2024, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He married the love of his life Sarah Anneta McMillan at Forrest Heights Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico on April 8, 1956. Bill was raised in the church, saved at a young age and loved the Lord. He was a faithful husband and dad. He loved and enjoyed all his grandchildren.
He started in the tire business in 1960 at Ok Rubber Welders in Clovis, New Mexico; he then later managed their store in Portales, New Mexico. He also managed a store in Farwell, Texas. Afterwards he trained for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Odessa, Texas in 1977. For a short period, he was transferred to Los Alamos, New Mexico then moved to Midland, Texas as their manager. He was in the tire business for 33 years.
After retiring, Bill and Anneta enjoyed traveling together in their RV. They got to experience the beautiful scenery of different states and meet new people. One of their favorite things was going to the Jams to hear musicians play in Rockport, Texas.
Bill and Annete are proud parents of six children: three sons and three daughters. He was preceded in death by His parents, Woodrow and Bertha Mae (Haney) Newcomb; their son, Nathan Newcomb; brother, Troy Newcomb; daughter in law, Doris Newcomb; two sisters, Betty Melton (brotherin- law Doc Melton) and Kay Harper; daughter in law, Debbie Newcomb and son-in-law Mike Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Anneta of Hindsville, Arkansas; two sons, David Newcomb of Snyder, Texas and William Newcomb of Hindsville, Arkansas; three daughters, Jeanne Robinson (Bert) of Midland, Texas, Janice Thomas of Brandford, Florida and Terry Marie Neff (Barry) of Cedar Creek, Texas; Eleven grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A special thanks to his cousin W.C. Howie for always keeping in touch and caring. Plus, many other beloved family and friends.
Sincere appreciation for all the therapist treating him for over a year and his family doctor Travis Embry. The family is grateful for all the prayers and support.
Services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10am at Bastrop First Assembly of God (609 Pecan St, Bastrop Texas) by Pastor Phil Woods. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service of Huntsville, Arkansas.
